The new office also serves as a training location. Our team here is available for competent professional consultations and product training at all times. This enables you to advise your customers by giving them useful and important information about the Duravit product world.

Duravit Design Center

A small road winds its way through the German Black Forest. It is lined by row after row of trees. The idyll is completely unspoilt. However, the road then enters a tunnel and, when emerging at the other end, a huge WC sculpture suddenly appears amidst the treetops. Embedded in the façade of a cube-shaped building, the giant WC never fails to raise a smile and it is blatantly clear that this is the brainchild of someone who has the audacity to do things differently – but who? A look inside the building provides the answer. This is the headquarters of bathroom manufacturer Duravit.

Duravit - More than 190 years of bathroom history

Duravit’s history began more than 190 years ago when Georg Friedrich Horn set up a small factory in Hornberg in the Black Forest for the production of earthenware crockery and, from the turn of the 20th century, also sanitaryware. Since then, Duravit has been committed exclusively to “Living bathrooms” and, today, covers the whole spectrum of bathroom interiors with ceramic sanitaryware, bathroom furniture and the relatively new Bathtubs + Wellbeing segment. The bathroom manufacturer today has a workforce of more than 5,300 employees world-wide. The company manufactures at 10 production sites in 7 countries. The Duravit designer brand is exported today to over 90 countries where the idea of "Living Bathrooms" is translated into tangible reality. Duravit has sales offices in more than 29 countries and on all continents. In 2008, despite global economic developments in the second half of the year, bathroom manufacturer Duravit continued upon its growth course and ended the year with an increase in sales of 7.6%. Total sales to third parties thus increased to Euro 335 million.

Successful design and innovations

Successful design is characterised by the fact that it captures the spirit of a coming age. This has become the company’s hallmark, namely “innovative bathroom design from jeans to dinner jacket”. Well-known for high quality production and award-winning design, since the early 80s Duravit has been working with international talents. Today, design expertise has long since become one of the company’s unique selling points and the brand has become a trendsetter for innovative design in the bathroom sector. Thanks to close and long-standing partnerships, the names Sieger Design and Philippe Starck have become firmly associated with the Duravit brand. The collaboration with Philippe Starck started in 1992. Today, his creations are still regarded as milestones that have revolutionised the sanitaryware sector. Duravit’s design partners also include Michael Graves, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Phoenix Design, James Irvine, Lord Norman Foster, Prof. Frank Huster, Herbert Schultes and Andreas Struppler. However, Duravit is also looking to new names. EOOS, for example, has set new standards with the Inipi sauna and the Sundeck whirltub and pool. In collaboration with its designers, Duravit has set a tremendous development pace in the last 20 years and has been recognised with numerous national and international design awards.
